The Rise of the Fan Park UK Experience
Over the past decade, the fan park UK scene has evolved from simple big screen gatherings into full scale, high energy event destinations. What started as casual public screenings during major tournaments has grown into a core part of British event culture.
This growth is being driven by unprecedented demand for live sport. The UK recorded 79.4 million live sports attendances in 2025, the highest on record, highlighting the nation’s appetite for shared experiences.
Major tournaments continue to fuel this momentum. UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 alone attracted over 574,000 attendees, while EURO 2024 saw millions of fans attend matches, with thousands more gathering in fan zones across host cities.
Fans no longer just want to watch the match. They want atmosphere, music, food, and a sense of occasion.
Modern fan parks now combine:
- Giant LED screens
- Street food traders
- Live DJs and entertainment
- Brand activations
- VIP hospitality areas
The result is a shift from passive viewing to fully immersive, festival style environments that attract thousands of attendees per event, often extending far beyond stadium capacity and into city wide fan zonesOff the back of this growth, some fan parks across the UK have really raised the bar. From container built venues to city centre takeovers and clever pop ups, these are the ones getting it right on atmosphere, layout and experience. Here are five of our favourites.

1. Box Park, Wembley
BOXPARK has become the benchmark for fan park culture in the UK. Known for its electric atmosphere during major tournaments, it consistently delivers high energy, sold out events.
Its container based design creates a unique environment that blends street food, bars, and large scale screening spaces. During the Euros, BOXPARK became one of the most talked about fan destinations in the country, regularly going viral across social media.
It set the standard for what a modern fan park should look and feel like.

3. Millennium Square, Leeds
Millennium Square in Leeds has hosted some of the UK’s largest city centre fan zones.
During major tournaments, it transforms into a high capacity, ticketed fan park with thousands of attendees. Its central location and strong infrastructure make it a prime example of how local authorities can successfully deliver large scale public viewing experiences.
It highlights the growing role of councils in the fan park UK market.

4. BACK YARD, Bournemouth
Backyard Bournemouth stands out as a unique case study in fan park innovation. Delivered during the Euros under COVID restrictions, it showed how quickly the industry could adapt while still creating a high energy experience.
The entire space was supplied using Innovative Hire’s product range, and we were delighted to be part of the team that transformed the Royal Exeter Hotel’s car park into what became one of the UK’s favourite pandemic pivots during the 2020 Euros.
Using outdoor layouts, controlled capacities, and modular infrastructure, the venue created a safe but vibrant environment where guests could enjoy live sport, food, drinks, and entertainment with structured seating and spacing. It proved that even under pressure, fan parks could thrive with the right design and delivery.
