We like to think we know a thing or two about event bars. We’ve supplied, set up (and sampled) many a bar, from chic and classy cocktail bars to quirky, bespoke and branded creations.
When you set up an event bar you have a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact with an otherwise functional structure. Remember, guests aren’t just buying a drink: they are there for the experience. You want a visit to your bar to be memorable, no matter how many proseccos are quaffed or tequilas slammed.
What is your bar for?
Yes, a bar is a place to go and get a drink, but what’s the event? Bars come in all shapes and sizes and this is the first thing to think about.
A wedding for 100 requires something quite different to an event for 1,000 for example. Likewise, the perfect bar for a business gathering is not the same as that for a festival. How many bar staff will you need? How much space?
Think of this step as laying the foundations for your event bar. Once you’ve got this sorted, it’s on to the fun stuff.
The different types of bar
Who are your customers and what are you serving?
It’s a fair assumption that almost everyone will pay a visit to the bar at some point, so it will inevitably make an impression on the whole atmosphere. Get it right and you’ve got the makings of a great event on your hands. Get it wrong and it will be forgettable… if not memorable for the wrong reasons.
Our quirky caravan bar, for example, has graced several events and is the perfect addition to the likes of an English Garden theme party or wedding, but there are circumstances where this would not be the best option!
A sleek, plain, highly functional bar might be just what you’re looking for. A place where guests can come, get a drink and leave may be all you want.
However, a themed bar does give you the opportunity to maximise on space and resources. If your event requires a bar, it’s sensible to make the most of it. Make it work for you. And have fun!
To take some of the work away from theming, our converted bars always raise a smile. Our shipping container bars are particularly popular for festivals and outdoor events. On the other hand there’s a time and a place for our tiki bar… and that time is mojito o’clock.
Consider whether a plain or themed bar would best enhance your event and then move on to the next step.
How to theme your bar appropriately – seasonality
Flowers, glassware, bottles, signage, framed quotes, lighting, bunting… the list is endless when it comes to theming! Without cluttering up the all-important drink space, enhancing event bars is all about those extra bits and pieces.
We don’t often tell people this, but seasonal theming is actually very straightforward. Simply think about the season and what best represents it. Our grass covered bar adorned with flowers, chalk board signage and vintage-inspired nick knacks would work perfectly for a spring event. Equally, a pallet bar with sprigs of pine and an ice sculpture would enhance winter festivities.
Theming is the fun part; let your imagination go wild!
